Transition Age Youth, generally spanning the ages of 18 to 24, encounter distinct obstacles in their quest for and preservation of appropriate housing. Upon exiting the foster care system, these individuals frequently find themselves devoid of the support and stability that once characterized their situation. Lacking a permanent familial structure or guardianship, they are compelled to independently navigate the complexities of the housing market and other associated challenges.

 

A significant number of transition age youth are confronted with financial impediments that hinder their ability to secure housing independently. They may possess negligible savings, limited employment prospects, and no access to subsidies or rental assistance programs that could alleviate their financial burden. Furthermore, young adults exiting the foster care system may not have completed their high school education or acquired the requisite skills for stable employment. This further complicates their search for housing and their pursuit of financial stability.

 

Sustained housing is pivotal to the well-being and success of transition age youth transitioning out of foster care. Foster Love is dedicated to addressing the needs of these youth by forging partnerships with banks and individuals who are willing to donate their homes.

By donating $21,000, individuals, families, organizations, and businesses can sponsor three entire Foster Home Creations as volunteers secure housing vouchers and assistance to create and furnish homes. Our pioneering instrument to measure how experiences of collective assembly positively impact society is dramatically improving and the budget of $21,000 results in three foster youth served.
